  • Rosneft: Improves Computer Modeling Technologies

Specialists of the Rosneft Scientific Institute RN-BashNIPIneft have developed an industrial simulator for modeling technological operations on wells using coiled tubing (CT). Import substitution development is aimed at ensuring the technological independence of the Company in the field of computer modeling.

The development of technological potential is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company prioritizes innovation, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.

Coiled tubing technology is an integral part of the modern oil and gas industry. It is used in a number of operations: borehole flushing and bottomhole normalization, inflow stimulation and well development, milling of restrictions to restore the flow area, fishing operations, installation and drilling of cement bridges and packer plugs, acidizing, geophysical surveys.

The unique software package of Rosneft allows designing, monitoring and analyzing CT operations, as well as solving the problems of finding optimal well design parameters at the stage of planning the development of oil and gas fields.

Currently, the corporate CT simulator is being tested at the Company’s fields for subsequent implementation in all technological processes where CT technology is used.

Effective and safe application of CT technology in oil and gas wells is impossible without detailed modeling of CT operations. Rosneft pays special attention both to the development of its own engineering competencies in this area and to the development of domestic solutions for modeling key oil and gas production processes.
