  • Rosneft Improves Methods for Studying Gas and Gas Condensate Wells

Rosneft’s research institute specialists in Ufa have enhanced the corporate software complex RN-VEGA by adding the capability to perform comprehensive analysis of dynamic data from gas and gas condensate wells without requiring their shutdown.

The improved functionality of the digital product allows for detailed modeling and analysis of well performance in low-permeability gas reservoirs, taking into account the effects of bottomhole and reservoir pressures. Based on the results, specialists can promptly analyze the reasons for changes in well flow rates and select effective geological and technical interventions.

The developed method of comprehensive dynamic data analysis has been tested on wells at Rosneft’s Urengoy gas condensate field. The potential economic effect from implementing the new functionality at the enterprise is estimated at 44 million rubles per year due to the reduction in the duration and volume of traditional gas dynamic surveys that require well shutdowns.

The implementation of the new method will improve the efficiency of measures aimed at intensifying gas and condensate production at the Company’s fields.

Rosneft is the first oil company in Russia to successfully develop software that covers all key processes of oil and gas production. The Company’s specialists have already developed 24 unique software products.
