Rosneft Scientists Awarded a Prize for the Development of the Arctic
The team of authors of PJSC NK Rosneft, LLC Arctic Scientific Center and St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University was awarded diplomas of the first prize winner of the International Competition of Scientific, Scientific, Technical and Innovative Developments aimed at the development and development of the Arctic and the continental shelf. The competition is supported by the RF Ministry of Energy and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Arctic is a particularly fragile region, the development of which can only be carried out with exclusive responsibility and using the best technical solutions. Since 2011, Rosneft has been systematically developing technologies required to operate on the Arctic shelf. One of the areas of research is to ensure the industrial and environmental safety of geological exploration, production and transportation of hydrocarbons in the presence of icebergs. To solve this problem, the Company’s specialists carried out comprehensive work, including theoretical developments, physical modeling in a pilot basin, as well as full-scale experimental work on towing icebergs in the Barents and Kara Seas.
The results of Rosneft’s scientific and technical research, dedicated to the development of technical means for ensuring iceberg safety of offshore oil and gas field facilities, were highly appreciated by the expert interdepartmental commission, and the presented work was selected for publication in the collection of works of the laureates.
The international competition of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation has been held annually since 2014 and is designed to contribute to the creation of sustainable socio-economic development and development of the Arctic and the continental shelf, to stimulate scientific, scientific, technical and innovative activities, to create conditions for the introduction into production of developments of interest for the development of scientific and technical potential of Russia.
