Rosneft Sold to Oilfield Services and Oil and Gas Companies Over 200 Commercial Licenses for the RN-GRID Simulator
Rosneft has sold more than 200 commercial licenses for the use of the RN-GRID software package, which is used to perform all operations and engineering calculations in the design of hydraulic fracturing. The largest Russian and international oilfield services and oil and gas companies became software buyers.
As part of the digital strategy, in 2017, Rosneft created the first RN-GRID industrial fracturing simulator (hydraulic fracturing) in Eurasia. 
Import-substitution development ensures the Company’s technological independence in the field of computer modeling, which is mandatory for the use of hydraulic fracturing technology.
At the beginning of 2018, Rosneft introduced RN-GRID at internal fracturing service enterprises, completely abandoning its Western counterparts. Also, in 2018, Rosneft began the commercial sale of RN-GRID software. The software package is significantly cheaper than foreign software. The appearance on the Russian market of domestic development led to increased competition and lower prices for foreign counterparts.
At the conclusion stage, contracts for another 50 licenses are in addition, in addition, 140 academic licenses were transferred to the partner universities of the Company. More than 40 test licenses were transferred to 16 oilfield services and oil and gas companies to study the capabilities of RN-GRID.
Currently, companies in the Asia-Pacific region are negotiating with Rosneft on the purchase of licenses to use the RN-GRID simulator.
