Rosneft: The 500 millionth ton of Oil Produced at the Priobskoye Field
RN-Yuganskneftegaz, the largest production asset of Rosneft, produced the jubilee 500 millionth ton of oil at the Priobskoye field.
The Priobskoye field (within the Priobskoye subsoil block) annually produces more than 20 million tons of hydrocarbons. Oil industry workers call it the pearl of Western Siberia: the field is unique in terms of area, geological reserves and production volumes.
Commercial oil reserves at the Priobskoye field were discovered in 1982. The development of the underground storeroom began from the left-bank part. In 1988, drilling of a well pad was started here and the first oil and gas production unit, TsDNG No. 12, was created. In 1999, the first tons of industrial oil were brought to the right bank.
Today, the era of “easy production” has been replaced by the time of hard-to-recover reserves, a significant amount of which is concentrated in the Priobskoye field. At the same time, production at the field remains at a consistently high level. As of 01.01.2021, the state balance of reserves in the AB1 + B2 category includes residual recoverable oil reserves of the Priobskoye field of Rosneft in the amount of more than 1.3 billion tons.
To effectively extract oil from low-permeability reservoirs, ultra-long horizontal wells are drilled at the field, multi-stage hydraulic fracturing is carried out and other advanced geological and technological measures are applied. Almost 5 thousand wells operate on a gigantic territory of 5.5 thousand km² – this is a third of the production fund of RN-Yuganskneftegaz. Active drilling is underway at the Priobskoye field.
