RusGazBurenie: Completes First Hydraulic Fracturing Operation at the Kovyktinsky Gas Condensate Field
In 2021-2022, RusGazBurenie LLC will have to complete 375 hydraulic fracturing operations at the Kovyktin GKM with a total injection of more than 23,000 tons.
The Kovyktinsky gas condensate field , opened in 1987, is the largest in the East of Russia in terms of gas reserves and is key in the formation of the Irkutsk Gas Production Center and resource base for the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, along with the Chayandin field in Yakutia. Gazprom received a license to develop the Kovyktin field in 2011.
In terms of the size of reserves (category C1-C2) Kovyktinsky GKM belongs to the category of unique: 2.7 trillion cubic meters of gas and 90.6 million tons of gas condensate (extracted). The planned project capacity reaches 25 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The gas of the deposit is multi-component: in addition to methane, it contains propane, butane and significant amounts of helium. In addition, the field is characterized by a complex geological structure: the most modern technologies will be used for its development.
