  • Russia Refocuses Geological Exploration on Scarce Minerals

Russia is reorienting geological exploration to scarce types of minerals, the main task is to ensure the state’s raw material security, said the head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov. The minister congratulated geologists on their professional holiday and noted that they are always “among those who lead the country forward.”

“Thousands of discovered deposits laid the foundation for the Russian economy and the development of cities and towns in our Motherland. The discoveries of geologists move science, technology, and other industries, and therefore change the quality of life of people,” he noted in his congratulations published by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Geologist Day in Russia in 2024 is celebrated on April 7.

“The main task is always the same – to ensure the state’s raw material security. Our industry needs lithium, titanium, chromium, niobium, zirconium, manganese, uranium, and today we are reorienting geological exploration to scarce types of minerals,” Kozlov added.
