Russian Domestic System of Standardisation for Oil and Gas is Being Developed
The Institute of Oil and Gas Technological Initiatives (INTI) and Tatneft have developed more than 100 standards in the field of the fuel and energy complex and the procurement procedure. The TATNEFT Technological Development Center and the St. Petersburg Institute began to cooperate in this direction in 2020 and continue their joint activities in the field of standardization. Oil News writes about this (Ruslan ISMAGILOV).
The Institute of Oil and Gas Technology Initiatives is a Russian autonomous non-profit organization. INTI brings together oil and gas, petrochemical and engineering companies, EPC contractors, licensors, design organizations and product manufacturers. They came together to jointly develop uniform industry standards and assess quality conformity.
The Institute also promotes the development of international cooperation and export of domestic oil and gas equipment. Today, seven foreign oil and gas companies participate in INTI. And the result of cooperation with OPEC+ countries was the recommendation of one of the countries to include several approved standards in the procurement procedures.
The activities of TATNEFT, together with INTI, are aimed at clarifying national standards, taking into account new technologies, as well as supporting the production of domestic products.
“We are developing general requirements for the energy industry,” says INTI General Director Nikolay KUZNETSOV. “We are creating an effective system of standardization and conformity assessment through the unification and interaction of industry experts.”
He noted that by developing standards together with INTI, Tatneft directly affects the consolidation of competencies and resources in the development of domestic production.
The conformity assessment developed at INTI is already being applied at Tatneft. For example, at the Bugulma Mechanical Plant (BMZ), an assessment was carried out according to a number of standards. Among them are requirements for steel welded vessel equipment, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, air coolers, measuring units and production sites.
All these initiatives received support from the state and industry organizations. Based on the positive experience of such major industry participants as Tatneft, within the framework of the Russian Energy Week, all VIOCs were invited to become members of the founders of INTI, as well as share their own expertise.
