  • Russian Oil Companies are Looking for Partners in Azerbaijan

Among them are Tatneft and oilfield services companies from Tatarstan.

The Baku Energy Week (June 4-6) is taking place in the capital of Azerbaijan. Leading representatives of the oil and gas industry and energy from around the world are participating in it. Large Russian companies have also become active participants in the Energy Week, reports the Moscow-Baku publication.

Among them are both large producers (Gazprom, Transneft) and regional companies seeking to enter the foreign market.

One of the largest Russian oil companies, Tatneft, is demonstrating its technologies in all areas of activity at the Baku Expo Center. On the first day of the exhibition, the company’s stand was visited by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham ALIYEV.

“Tatneft has vast experience,” said company representative Rafael AFLETONOV. “It has been on the market for over 70 years. Our activities cover work from oil production to oil refining.” Tatneft cooperates with the Azerbaijan State Oil Company SOCAR. Earlier, the parties identified promising areas of cooperation in the field of petrochemistry, oil refining, oil production, and science. “Our close cooperation with Azerbaijan began in 2023, after the leaders of our countries signed the Roadmap,” Afletonov continued. – We think that by the end of this year we will have joint contracts in the listed areas.”

One of the innovative stands is at the Silur company. This is a manufacturer of modern sealing materials. Here, visitors are greeted by the robot Silur Grafitovich, who introduces visitors to the company. “Such robots are produced in our homeland, in Perm,” says Alexander POPOVTSEV, lead engineer at Silur. – You can get complete information about our company from him, which manufactures modern sealing materials based on thermally expanded graphite.” Silur has been cooperating with Azerbaijan since 2018. The company supplies products to the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery and the Azerkhimiya enterprise.

In turn, Ural Steel supplies pipes for the oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan. The Orenburg enterprise is a leading manufacturer of bridge steel on the Russian market.

“Together with the Zagorsk Pipe Plant, it is part of a single integrated metallurgical holding, offering new solutions for the pipe and bridge-building industries,” says Arseniy GUTOV, a representative of the company.

Russian RailGo specializes in international transportation of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG). The company was founded in 1997.

“We transport petroleum products in the markets of Russia, the CIS and Asia,” says Alexander RAMADAN, head of the commercial department of RailGo. – Not long ago, we opened a representative office in Azerbaijan. We came to the next exhibition with great expectations.”

The Rostov company Turbulentnost-DON also intends to enter the Azerbaijan market. This is the largest Russian manufacturer of flow meters and gas and water meters.

Tatarstan, as one of the leading oil and gas regions of Russia, also presented its stand. It consists of four enterprises, Sputnik-Azerbaijan reports. Among them is the company “Piton Kama”. This is a manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies, busbars and lighting equipment.

Smartchem (supplier of oilfield chemicals), “KEP” (manufacturer of electrical panels) and “Petroline-A” also presented their achievements. This is a developer of control and measuring devices and software.

These companies are participating in the exhibition thanks to the national project “Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Support of Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives”, says the head of the Export Support Center of the Tatarstan Entrepreneurship Support Fund Albina GERGERT.

According to her, Tatarstan has long had close ties with Azerbaijan. In 1992, a representative office of our republic was already opened in Baku. RT supplies oil and gas equipment, measuring instruments, etc. This year, Baku Energy Week once again united three major events. These are the international exhibitions “Caspian Oil and Gas”, “Energy and Green Energy” (Caspian Power), and the Baku Energy Forum.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Caspian Oil&Gas exhibition. About 300 companies from 37 countries participate in the events.

This year, the exhibition is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the signing of the “Contract of the Century”. It was concluded between Azerbaijan and 13 major global oil companies on September 20, 1994 in Baku. The parties agreed to jointly develop three oil fields – “Azeri – Chirag – Guneshli” in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. This helped transform the country’s economy in a short time.
