  • Sakhalin LNG Exports Exceeds 30 million Tonnes

    The Sakhalin Energy company, operating one of the world’s largest integrated oil and gas projects Sakhalin-2, has produced over 30 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (equivalent to 40 bcm of natural gas) in the time period of three years of its LNG Plant operations.

    The 500th standard cargo of 145’000 cubic meters (66.7 thousand tons) of LNG has been shipped to Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) on 9th of August, 2012. Republic of Korea is currently the second-largest buyer of Sakhalin LNG. Still the most of it is being shipped to Japan, which in 2011 received over 7 million tonnes, which constitutes 70% of Sakhalin-produced LNG.

    Annual export volumes of Sakhalin Energy reached 10.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas by 2011.
