Salym Petroleum Development Produced the 110 Millionth Ton of Oil
The cumulative production of Salym Petroleum Development (SPD) has reached 110 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons.
The production activity of the enterprise began in 2003 with the development of the Zapadno-Salymskoye field in the Nefteyugansk region of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. Today, the company is exploring and developing six licensed areas on the territory of the Salym deposits.
SPD was one of the first companies in Russia to implement the Smart Field complex in 2009, laying the foundation for the company’s further digital development. The technology makes it possible to transmit information from well pads located at the fields to a control center in the office. The complex analyzes the maximum of technological parameters that help in further setting up the equipment and optimizing the operation of the entire asset.
For many years, SPD has been a platform for testing new technologies. For the development of the Salym fields, advanced methods of enhanced oil recovery and drilling of high-tech wells are used.
SPD’s achievements have repeatedly received the highest appraisal from the government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. In 2022, the enterprise once again became a laureate of the regional competition “Black Gold of Yugra” in the nomination “For the efficiency of working with subsoil”. In 2023, the company was awarded a letter of thanks from the Governor for its active environmental protection activities and high results in the field of environmental protection.

Every year, the enterprise implements more than 50 social projects in the field of education, healthcare, sports, support for the small indigenous peoples of the North, ecology and security. SPD Social Investment Program became a finalist of the ESG Awards Russia in 2022. The enterprise provides comprehensive support to socially significant projects of settlements located near the Salym deposits.
Together with the government of Yugra and Yugra State University, SPD is participating in the creation of a regional greenhouse gas monitoring system within the framework of the International Center for the Assessment and Verification of Carbon Units project. SPD, together with the Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas in Khanty-Mansiysk, created an interactive museum space “Intellect Center” to promote and develop science and technology education in Yugra.
Denis Paramoshin, SPD General Director: “SPD is a driver of development and an integral part of the economy of an industrial region.
