  • Salym Petroleum Development: West Salym and Vadelyp Fields Could Be Connected

Salym Petroleum Development N.V. (SPD) has successfully drilled an exploration well at the interface between West Salym and Vadelyp fields. The well suggests that both fields could be connected, resulting in a significant increase in expected hydrocarbon reserves.

‘Successful exploration drilling is a result of meticulous work performed by our company as part of the large scale 3D seismic survey program implemented at the Salym group of oil fields on the territory with the total area of 1830 km2. The new well exposed more than 20 meters of net oil thickness and yielded promising flow rates. Such discoveries confirm that the SPD strategy to maintain production rates and develop our resource base is the right one’ – said SPD Chief Geologist Ilshat Talipov.

Currently SPD is building two production well pads at the interface between the West Salym and Vadelyp fields which is expected to contribute in growing the production in 2015.
