Samotlorneftegaz: Improves Environmental Friendliness of Production
Samotlorneftegaz, which is part of the oil and gas production complex of NK Rosneft, will build 120 new wells using energy from mobile modular substations. Energy facilities will be installed in remote areas of the field, where the construction of stationary power plants is not efficient.
As part of the Rosneft-2022 strategy, the Company is systematically working to improve energy efficiency, rational resource consumption and environmental friendliness of production. Switching to modular substations reduces the use of fuel for power generation and, as a result, reduces the burden on the environment.
Russian-made mobile substations are fully adapted to northern conditions. The temperature range of their operation ranges from – 55 to +50 degrees. The complex can be freely moved and put into operation as soon as possible. Installation of equipment takes about 4 days, and its compact size allows it to be installed at any site of the Samotlor field.
The company acquired two modular substations in 2018 as part of a program to optimize drilling costs by reducing fuel costs. The economic effect of their use averaged 114 million rubles per unit per year. At present, Samotlorneftegaz is studying the issue of expanding the practice of using mobile substations.
