Samotlorneftegaz: Increases the Speed of Drilling Horizontal Wells
Samotlorneftegaz, which is part of Rosneft’s oil production unit, has drilled two horizontal wells using a unique bicentric bit design. Such a constructive solution made it possible to increase the average ROP to 53.5 m/h, which is 23.5 m/h higher than the planned figure.
In addition to increasing the penetration rate, the use of drilling equipment of this type will reduce the time of well construction. At present, the specialists of the enterprise continue to work on further modernization of the design of the drilling tool, and also study the prospects for its use in conjunction with rotary steerable systems.
The use of modern equipment and the selection of optimal drilling parameters allow Samotlorneftegaz to annually increase the volume of development drilling. At the end of 2021, it amounted to 1,522,199 m, which is 15% higher than the previous year.
