Saudi Aramco to Reduce Oil Production at Two Fields, Reuters Reports

The Saudi state oil and gas company Saudi Aramco is reducing production at two oil fields amid the effective blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reports, citing sources.

“The Saudi oil giant Aramco has begun cutting production at two of its oil fields… after the crucial Strait of Hormuz was blocked,” two sources told the agency.

At the same time, it remains unclear which fields are affected and to what extent production is being reduced, the report said.

The company did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Earlier in March, the Al Ekhbariya TV channel, citing a company statement, reported that Saudi Aramco would temporarily redirect oil tankers to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea due to the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.

Saudi Aramco is the state oil and gas company of Saudi Arabia, founded in 1933. The company operates in three main global energy markets: Asia, Europe, and North America.
