Schlumberger Delivers Enterprise Knowledge Management for IT Professionals
Schlumberger today announced the release of Studio* Manager, which delivers information management capabilities for the Studio E&P knowledge environment. Studio Manager allows information management professionals to proactively track asset team progress and resolve data issues working interactively with users of the Petrel* E&P software platform.
“Studio Manager enables information managers to boost the productivity of geoscientists and engineers—truly impacting the core value generation activities in E&P,” said Tony Bowman, president, Schlumberger Information Solutions. “Unlike traditional tools that support managing data in a database, Studio Manager allows information managers to ensure a more productive experience among Petrel platform users sharing interpretations and related knowledge.”
The Studio environment allows E&P experts to find all relevant data, collaborate with peers, and capture and share best practices in the context of their current Petrel workflow. Innovative indexing technology provides access to both structured and unstructured data in Studio repositories, as well as third-party applications and data sources.
Several oil and gas companies participated in beta testing Studio Manager as a part of the standard commercialization process. Key capabilities tested included managing data quality and database integrity, while at the same time seeing how asset team members are using and sharing technical information. Further feedback focused on the intuitive interface, which supports the ability to simultaneously notify relevant users of data updates.
The Studio environment embeds enterprise technology from Microsoft Lync, SharePoint, Exchange and Office, supported by the industry-standard enterprise database deployed on Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
