Severstal Has Completed a Comprehensive Supply of Metal Products for the Reconstruction of the Support Base of an Offshore Stationary Platform at One of the Large Offshore Oil Fields in Russia
Severstal has successfully completed a comprehensive supply of rolled metal for the reconstruction of the support base of a stationary offshore platform. It will become a key facility in the development of one of the promising oil production projects in Russia.
“For Severstal, this is another successful example of implementing an integrated supply model, which we are actively developing and scaling. In addition, as part of the execution of this order, Severstal replaced European suppliers, fully providing the customer with thick sheet metal, unique for the Russian market, intended for the construction of offshore structures. Using a partner network of suppliers, we completely covered all the client’s needs for metal products using the “one window” principle,” said Daria Korotchenko, director of key infrastructure projects at Severstal.
High-strength rolled steel, developed by Severstal specialists specifically for offshore structures in accordance with the requirements of EN 10225, will ensure the performance and durability of the main and special critical structures of the support base at all design temperatures during the specified service life. Operational reliability is confirmed by successfully completed preliminary qualification assessments and certification tests of finished products up to a temperature of minus 60°C inclusive.
In total, to fulfill this order, Severstal supplied 1,830 tons of rolled sheets of its own production in thicknesses up to 100 mm inclusive, as well as more than 150 tons of rolled metal from third-party manufacturers. The products have been manufactured, certified and tested in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
