  • SPD Drilled the 1100th Well in Salym Group of Oil Fields

Salym Petroleum Development (SPD) drilled the 1100th well in Salym group of oil fields. A 3650-meter well with vertical outstep 2519 meters was drilled in Vadelyp field in 11.75 days by KCA Deutag, SPD drilling contractor.

“Efficient realization of drilling program at the Salym group of oil fields is one of the key factors of successful delivery of SPD strategy and maintaining our oil production level in particular. Though from year to year we drill deeper and more complex wells, we succeed in improving constantly efficiency of well construction and the speed of drilling. Essential is that we not only deliver the wells to the highest industry standards but we do this work safe without harming people or the environment”, noted Alexey Govzich, SPD CEO.

Earlier this year SPD drilled a 3305-meters-deep well at Upper Salym in less than 8 days. The construction time of this well became a new record for this depth. In 2016 SPD drilled 65 wells to-date, including 22 horizontal wells, 7 sidetracks and 1 exploration well.

SPD spudded its first development well in 2004 in the West Salym field. The total length of wells constructed during this period has exceeded 3.4 million meters. The average drilling time is about 9 days per well.
