  • SPE’s Renowned CTCE to Open its Doors in Kazakhstan this Week

The Oil & Gas industry are keenly awaiting the 5th Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition (CTCE), organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Taking place at the Palace of Independence in Astana, the event is hosted by KMG and supported by the entire oil & gas industry from the Caspian region.

This year’s theme, Co-operating Towards a More Competitive Environment to Encourage Investment Projects, looks at the importance of adaptation to changing market conditions that face the oil and gas industry locally in the Caspian and on a more global level. Since the first CTCE event in November 2014, the global oil and gas industry has experienced a continued period of lower oil prices, which has put the spotlight on the commercial viability of all oil and gas projects around the world. The Caspian region in particular faces a number of technical challenges when it comes to oil and gas extractions but there seems to be a renewed sense of optimism this year. Technical innovations need to be utilised to improve these oil recovery factors and the identification of more suitable reserves. There also needs to be motivation towards cost efficiency and the reduction of exploration costs.

These issues will be discussed throughout CTCE through an all-encompassing technical programme that features high calibre research-based presentations. You will hear from some of the top E&P players in the region including Kurmangazy Iskaziyev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Exploration, Production and Oilfield Services, JSC NC ‘KazMunayGas’; Uzakbay Karabalin, Deputy Chairman, KAZENERGY; Murat Zhurebekov, General Director, PSA LLP; Pascal Breant, Total’s Country Chair in Kazakhstan and Managing Director, Total E&P Kazakhstan; Balaji Krishnamurthy, Deputy Managing Director, Chevron; Eimear Bonner, General Manager, Operations, Tengizchevroil and Bruno Jardin, Managing Director, NCOC.

This year’s CTCE programme will strike a balance between our new Operator and Investor panel, 3 keynote topical panel sessions around ‘Digitalisation’, ‘Collaboration in a Competitive Environment’ and ‘Optimising Project Execution’, 12 technical sessions involving debate and 50+ research-based presentations with the intention of exchanging knowledge, best practices, and experience.

CTCE has the support of a broad range of key stakeholders from the Caspian energy industry, including the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KAZENERGY, PSA, our host KMG and the largest oil and gas players in the Caspian including Exxonmobil, NCOC and Tengizchevroil.

Networking is a strong component at the event providing delegates with a chance to build new professional relationships, discover new technologies and insights into the industry, engage in debate, and share experiences.

CTCE will take place from 31 October – 2 November at the Palace of independence in Astana. To find out more and to register, visit: www.spe.org/go/18ctce
