Tenaris to Highlight Bay City Mill and the New TenarisHydril Wedge Connection for Shales at OTC

Tenaris will be highlighting the upcoming startup of its seamless pipe mill in Bay City, Texas, and the launch of the new TenarisHydril Wedge XP™ connection to serve the shales at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), May 1-4 at NRG Park.

Stop by booth #3114 to learn more about the most advanced, automated seamless pipe manufacturing facility in the world – TenarisBayCity – set to start operations in the fall.  The $1.8 billion seamless mill, which will be able to produce 600,000 tons of OCTG when fully operational, will help Tenaris further deploy and strengthen its business model known as Rig Direct™.

In addition to the investment in Bay City, Tenaris has expanded its service center network over the past two years, opening facilities in Freeport and Midland, TX, to support the Rig Direct™ model. The strategy streamlines the supply chain, offering customers a complete range of products and services with direct delivery from the mill to the rig.  In the US, about 50 percent of Tenaris’s OCTG sales are through Rig Direct™.

Achieving differentiaton through service and product development, and industrial excellence has been a mainstay of Tenaris.  Booth #3114 will feature its new connection for shale applications, TenarisHydril Wedge XP™, which provides exceptional over-torque performance needed in some production strings typically used in horizontal wells for shale applications. The connection’s torque capacity is achieved thanks to the renowned robustness of the TenarisHydril Wedge thread design combined with a pin-to-pin backup mechanism.

The booth will also feature Tenaris products including line pipe, our award winning BlueCoil® technology coiled tubing and the recently launched line of AlphaRod™ sucker rods, developed using two steel grades that offer superior toughness, increased corrosion resistance and extended lifespan.
