Tenaris to Launch Premium Connection Technologies for Deepwater Applications at OTC

Tenaris will introduce two new TenarisHydril premium connections for deepwater applications at booth 2965 in the main exhibit hall of the Offshore Technology Conference, held May 6-9 at the Reliant Center.

TenarisHydril Wedge 623™ connection: This technology was developed to comply with recent changes in deepwater operating requirements in the Gulf of Mexico. The new connection is an improved version of the Wedge 523™ semi-flush connection design featuring an additional external metal-to-metal seal and offering compression ratings (80-86% efficiency) and torque capacity unmatched in an integral connection.

It has been tested under the ISO 13679 CAL I-E testing protocol and meets additional operator requirements for survival loads, in line with API RP96 criteria. The connection comes with Dopeless® technology, which enhances its performance and reliability and provides additional operational, well productivity and HSE benefits.

TenarisHydril Blue® Riser connection: Tenaris’s first connection for riser applications, the Blue® Riser has been specially designed for use in deepwater top tensioned risers and high pressure drilling riser applications where an exceptional level of fatigue resistance and sealability performance is required. It has been tested for sealability under the ISO 13679 CAL I-E testing protocol as well as for fatigue performance and sealability after fatigue.
