The 3rd RDCR, Russian Drilling Contractors Roundtable, was held on the 9th of April at the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski, Moscow, www.RDCR.net

The event was held for one day and included over 200 delegates and sponsor representatives of the Russian drilling industry.  The RDCR was confirmed as the largest gathering of drilling specialists in Russia including operator drilling teams, drilling contractors, service companies and equipment vendors, domestic and international.

Hall 1: Rigs and Equipment

The first hall was dedicated to drilling rigs and equipment. Moderator of the hall were Antoine D’Amore, Deputy Head of the Drilling, Salym Petroleum Development (SPD) and  Evgeny  Rykov, Deputy Director General for Drilling, Naftogaz.

With presentations were made by representatives of the companies VZBT, Drillmec, TMS Group and MTU.

The key areas covered in this hall included: drilling contractor and operator relationships and improvements, rig financing and upgrades, impact of the sanctions and financing, rig and equipment and top drives, boost rig performance and power generation.

Hall 2: Tubular Products including Pipe, Hardbanding and Pipe Handling

The roundtables in the second hall focused on issues dealing with drill pipe and their connectors, hardbanding and pipe handling. Moderation of the hall was handled by  Alexey Emelyanov,  Deputy Director General for Technical Sales Support, TMK and  Vladimir Tikhomirov, General Director, Tuboscope,  National Oilwell Varco.

Presentations were made by TMS groups, Hardbanding Solutions and McCoy Global.

The key areas covered in this hall included: Lack of pipe availability and the lack of premium connection availability, import substitution, hardbanding application and reapplication and the costs involved, how to reapply and apply hardbanding correctly and hardbanding availibilty, pipe handling, tong costs and benefits and reducing NPT in pipe handling, pipe tong automation and cost and HSE savings.

Hall 3: Oilfield Services and Downhole Equipment

The third hall was dedicated to oilfield services, horizontal directional drilling, drill bits and downhole tools, cleaning and integrity of the wellbore. Moderator of the hall was  Viktor ​​Khaiku,  President, CEO,  National Association of Oil and Gas Service

The key areas covered in this hall included: Daily rate vs turnkey solutions, project insurance and responsibility, operator relationships, well construction time and reductions, drilling contracts, import substitution, directional drilling, drill bits and bit manufacture, Russian Vs Western service companies and pricing, well bore quality and clean outs.
