The Desalination Plant in Karazhanbas Has Started Operating at Full Capacity
The reservoir water desalination plant at the Karazhanbas field has reached its design capacity of 17 thousand cubic meters per day.
Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG) Askhat Khasenov made a working trip to the Karazhanbas field and got acquainted with the work of the enterprise, mangystaumedia reports.kz with reference to the company‘s press service.
After desalination, the reservoir water will be used for technical purposes to produce steam at the field. Since its pilot launch, the plant has desalinated more than 6.4 million cubic meters of water.
The project is of great social importance. Before the plant was put into operation, Karazhanbasmunai JSC consumed an average of 21 thousand cubic meters of Volga water per day, but now this figure has decreased to 5 thousand cubic meters.
This, in turn, made it possible to direct a significant amount of water flowing through the Astrakhan–Mangyshlak main water supply to the needs of residents of the region. In addition, the purification of associated reservoir waters in an oil field also has a positive impact on the environment. At the moment, this is the largest such project in the oil fields of Kazakhstan.
The facility is located on an area of 36 thousand square meters, with a production capacity of 17 thousand cubic meters per day (this volume of purified water is 42.5 thousand cubic meters per day when cleaning the water reservoir).
