  • The Division of the TAGRAS Holding for the First Time Received an Influx of Oil from the Anomalous Bazhen to the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug

The TNG-Group company received an influx of oil from the Zaozernaya well No. 1 in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. The project was implemented by order of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “All-Russian Research Geological Petroleum Institute” on the basis of a state assignment from the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use Rosnedra.

The Zaozernaya Square well was built in 2021. Under the leadership of the chief geologist of TNG-Group, Artem Kozionov, reconnaissance was carried out at the site in October 2023 and the necessary preparatory work was carried out for workover, hydraulic fracturing and microseismic monitoring. To start the project, specialized specialists inspected the wellhead equipment, designated the area where the hydraulic fracturing fleet would be located, and also selected water intake sites and took samples. With the onset of cold weather, a winter passage was built at the well site, equipment was promptly mobilized, and a residential camp was set up. Work on the well began in January 2024.

After carrying out the preparatory work, specialists from the TagraS-RS division of the TAGRAS Holding carried out hydraulic fracturing of the promising object of the Bazhenov formation at the field: they managed to pump 50 tons of proppant at an injection pressure of over 400 atmospheres. The injection process was monitored using microseismic monitoring of seismic fracture opening events. The total length of the hydraulic cracks was about 570 meters, the height of the seismic cloud was 30-35 meters, and the average width of the crack was 2.2 mm. The azimuth of the created cracks has a predominantly NE-SW direction.

During the study, specialists confirmed the oil content of the anomalous Bazhen deposits in the study area and sent deep oil samples for study. Selecting the optimal hydraulic fracturing mode in a given area will allow achieving maximum effect when producing hydrocarbons in this type of geological section.

A parametric well in the Zaozernaya area will solve the most important geological problems for the Karabash oil and gas promising zone, including due to the productivity of sediments of the anomalous section of the Bazhenov formation.

The results of the Holding’s research were announced at a meeting of the gas industry commission of PJSC Gazprom in April 2024.
