  • The Head of Rosnedra Spoke About the Volume of Exploration in Russian Companies

Russian companies in 2023 still maintain the volume of exploration both in the oil industry and in solid minerals, despite the sanctions pressure, said the head of Rosnedra Evgeny Petrov in an interview with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the SPIEF.

“So far, no company has reduced the volume of exploration, both for the oil part and for solid minerals. They remain at the level of last year,” he answered the question of whether there was a decrease in geological exploration for hydrocarbons due to sanctions.

Petrov noted that in 2023, investments in exploration for solid minerals may even grow – by 25%, or 15.8 billion rubles from the costs of 2022.

“Here it is important that not only the volume of funding is maintained, but, most importantly, the volume of work, as companies go to more complex regions where exploration can be more expensive. But for now, the volume of work remains the same, and then – time will tell,” he stressed. head of Rosnedra.

In December, the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov noted that he expects a decrease in the volume of exploration and aims to maintain its current pace. At the same time, the ministry clarified that in 2022, the total investment of companies in exploration amounted to about 470 billion rubles, which is 20 billion more than in 2021.
