  • The Largest Oilfield Services Company in the United States Has Been Subjected to a Cyber Attack

    The largest oilfield services company in the United States, Halliburton, has been subjected to a cyberattack, its employees are trying to fix the problem, Reuters reports.

    A representative of the company told the agency that Halliburton is aware of the problem affecting certain systems of the company, is working to determine the cause and consequences of the problem, and is also trying to fix the problems that have arisen.

    As the source clarified to Reuters, the attack apparently affected business operations at the company‘s campus in north Houston, as well as some global communications networks.

    Halliburton is one of the largest oilfield services companies in the world, providing drilling services and equipment worldwide. The company provides its services in more than 70 countries. Its headquarters are located in Houston, Texas. By the end of 2023, the company employed about 48 thousand employees.

    In March 2022, Halliburton announced the termination of its work in Russia due to sanctions against the country. In the autumn of the same year, the company sold its Russian assets, which were estimated at $340 million, to local management.
