  • The Messoyakha Digital Drilling Rig Was Recognized as the Best Solution for the Russian Oil and Gas Industry

The development was awarded at the competition “Best Digital Solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry”

The Digital Drilling Rig project of Messoyakhaneftegaz (a joint venture of Gazprom Neft and Rosneft Oil Company) was recognized as the best digital solution of 2023 for the Russian oil and gas industry.

As the company told FederalPress, the development was noted at the “Best Digital Solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry” competition, which was held as part of the annual federal forum on IT and digital technologies in the oil and gas industry SmartOil&Gas. “Smart Drilling Rig” won in the category “Best solution based on artificial intelligence and neurotechnology in the oil and gas industry.” Experts assessed the innovativeness, significance for the industry, replicability and effectiveness of the proposed solution.

The integration of neural networks into the drilling rig allowed Messoyakhaneftegaz to efficiently and effectively build the first multilateral well to develop the hard-to-recover reserves of the Achimov formations – these strata are characterized by a complex geological structure and require high-tech methods for production.

“Today, a significant part of Gazprom Neft’s intellectual resources is aimed at searching, implementing and further replicating new approaches to working with hard-to-recover reserves. “Smart drilling increases the safety and profitability of well construction in difficult geological conditions,” commented Sergei Doctor, head of the production directorate for the exploration and production block of Gazprom Neft.

As the company notes, digital solutions in well construction make it possible to manage the profitability of oil production and increase the safety and efficiency of developing hard-to-recover reserves in the Arctic.

“The technology for constructing multilateral wells on automated drilling rigs will be replicated during the further development of the Achimov horizons of the Messoyakha group of fields,” added Sergei Ovchinnikov, director for commissioning new capacities of Messoyakhaneftegaz.
