The Number of Oil and Gas Drilling Rigs in the World Increased in June
The number of active oil and gas drilling rigs around the world rose by 17 in June compared to May, or 1%, to 1,800, according to data from US oil and gas service company Baker Hughes.
In annual terms, the number of operating drilling rigs increased by 94, or 5.4%.
In the United States, according to the company, the indicator decreased by 41 on a monthly basis, in Canada the number of drilling rigs increased by 56.
The number of drilling rigs in Europe increased by 13 to 122. In the Middle East, the figure decreased by 10 to 329 rigs. In the Asia-Pacific region, the indicator decreased by 7 to 226, in Africa it increased by 7 to 101. In Latin America, the number of installs dropped by one to 189.
Since 1944 Baker Hughes has provided weekly data on the change in the number of drilling rigs in the US and Canada. Since 1975, the service company has published the number of drilling rigs worldwide every month.
