The Oil Industry of Kazakhstan Reached the Planned Production Level for the First Time Since May
Oil and gas condensate production in the republic amounted to 256 thousand tons
Daily oil production in Kazakhstan, after a decline due to accidents in the energy system, has stabilized for the first time since May and reached planned levels. This was reported by the Situational Analytical Center of the Fuel and Energy Complex JSC of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic.
“Daily oil production in the Republic of Kazakhstan is stabilizing and has reached the planned levels. As of September 21, 2023, oil and gas condensate production in Kazakhstan amounted to 256 thousand tons, which is 12% higher than the average daily production volume for August (228 thousand tons),” it says in the message. “Thus, the oil industry has reached peak production levels for the first time since May,” the center noted. Its experts recalled that in July-August there was a 10% decline in production due to power outages “caused by accidents at MAEK (Mangistau Nuclear Energy Plant – TASS) facilities and abnormally hot ambient temperatures.”
According to the center, the main factor in stabilizing production in September was the completion of a 40-day overhaul at the integrated technological line (CTL) of the Tengizchevroil company. The Karachaganak Petroleum Operating enterprise has restored production levels after scheduled maintenance at integrated gas treatment facilities.
On August 11, two turbine generators of MAEK CHPP-2 went offline, which led to the disconnection of consumers in the Atyrau and Mangistau energy centers. Then the third unit of the thermal power plant switched off, and industrial enterprises were limited in their electricity consumption.
A similar situation was observed on July 3 due to an emergency shutdown of power unit No. 1 at the MAEK CHPP.
