  • The Republic of India Has Proposed That the Russian Federation Participate in Oil and Gas Exploration Across 200,000 Square Kilometers of Its Territory

The Republic of India is offering the Russian Federation access to 200,000 square kilometers of its territory for oil and gas exploration. This was announced by Hardeep Singh Puri, the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Republic of India.

“We are offering 200,000 square kilometers for drilling in sedimentary basins. They are completely open[to the Russian Federation]. They are open to all companies. We just need to establish partnerships,” Puri stated.

He emphasized the importance of direct dialogue between the business communities of both countries:

“I always encourage more and more interaction between companies, more discussions. Once discussions begin, they lead to delegation visits, which in turn generate interest and engage new participants,” the Indian minister noted.

In addition, according to Puri, there will be increasing demand for petrochemical feedstock:

“That is why we will be looking for opportunities to cooperate in this area,” he concluded.
