  • The ROGTEC Interview: Fabio Gomez, Sales Director for the CIS Region, Tenaris

What is your position in the company and how long have you held this position?
Since 2008 I have been based in Moscow, serving as Tenaris’s Sales Director for the CIS region.

How long have you been in business in Russia and the Caspian?
Tenaris has been present in Russia since 1992. We opened our office in Moscow in 2004. During 2008, we have doubled the size of our office, incorporating local staff to our commercial team. I have personally been in the region for 2 years.

What companies have you worked with in the Region?
Most of the NOC’s and main private Oil & Gas companies operating in the region.

What is your most recent success in the market?
The very successful deployment of the Tenaris Blue Dopless solution in the Artic environment in Russia.

Have you and any recent product launches for the region?
Yes, the Wedge solution TSH 563 Dopeless and Near Flush in Russia and Kazakhstan respectively.

What is your favourite band and track?
The Eagles and their song Hotel California.

Where in the world would you most like to visit and why?
India, I found this country and its culture very rich and exotic.

What is your favourite sport, and what team do you support?
My favorite sports are tennis and football. I support Agrentina’s Boca Juniors team.

What are your thoughts on the Russian oil and gas market through to the end of this year and beyond?
I have perceived an improvement in the level of E&P activity since the beginning of 2010, particularly in Oil related projects. Partly because of the Oil price recovery from the 35$ per barrel low, and partly because of concrete actions in terms of taxes, aimed to increase production outcome, from the Russian government. Regarding Gas related projects the situation seems to be steady, with a more medium /long term perspective and focus and commitment on huge projects like Yamal and Shtokman. In general I would expect a slow and steady recovery from 2010 onwards.
