  • The Search For Oil And Gas Facilities At The Expense Of Government Funds Will Begin In The Astrakhan Region For The First Time In 20 Years

Work to find new promising oil and gas facilities at the expense of public funds will begin in the Astrakhan region for the first time in 20 years, reports the press service of the regional Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy.

“In 2024, it is planned to begin a set of regional works in the region at the expense of public funds in order to identify and prepare new local promising hydrocarbon targets. The customer of the work is the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, the contractor is the All-Russian Scientific Research Geological Petroleum Institute,” said Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy of the region Ilya Volynsky.

The work will be carried out in the Kharabalinsky and Krasnoyarsk districts of the region. It is planned to study the geological structure of the Astrakhan sector of the Caspian oil and gas province and clarify the prospects for the oil and gas potential of subsalt deposits of the Astrakhan arch and its slopes. Next, over the course of two years, geophysical research will be carried out and a model of the geological structure of the field work site will be built.

The hydrocarbon raw material base of the Astrakhan region consists of 10 fields, including 3 oil, 1 gas-oil, 2 gas and 4 gas condensate. The explored and preliminary estimated reserves of the region as of January 1, 2024 amount to 4.7 trillion cubic meters. meters of gas, 669 million tons of condensate and 387 million tons of oil, which is more than 20% of all-Russian condensate reserves and 5% of natural gas, the report says.

In the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, 12 multilayer fields have been explored, and more than 20 promising structures have been identified. Recoverable reserves of offshore fields as of January 1, 2024 amount to 758 billion cubic meters. meters of gas, 64 million tons of condensate and 276 million tons of oil.

It is noted that the success of geological exploration activities in recent years was the confirmation by Astrakhan Oil and Gas Company LLC of the industrial significance of the development of the Astrakhan right-bank gas condensate field, as well as the discovery by LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft LLC of three new fields in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea (North Rakushechnoye, Khazri and R. Maganova ).
