The Subsoil of Russia Should Explore Domestic Technologies, the State Reserves Commission Said

Domestic technologies should become fundamental in the exploration of natural resources in Russia, said Igor Shpurov, General Director of the State Reserves Commission, at the conference “Subsoil Energy – on the Path to High Achievements”, dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of Rosnedra.
“The provision of reserves of many types of mineral resources in Russia is one of the largest in the world. Well, it is obvious that Russia, which has unique reserves of natural resources, cannot rely on Western solutions for subsoil use. Therefore, the design principle that Rosnedra made and which is the basis reserve assessment system, suggests that it is domestic geological exploration technologies that should become the key to the effective development of Russian subsoil,” Shpurov said.
He also named the tools that influence further digitalization in the examination process: the development of a personal account and a register of experts, the introduction of an interactive examination system based on data modification, as well as the integration of end-to-end digital models from geological exploration to processing and enrichment. Further prospects are associated with the development of technological sites for hard-to-recover reserves, Shpurov noted. According to him, this will allow us to tap an additional 7 billion tons of hard-to-recover oil reserves.
