The United States Does Not Plan to Cancel Oil Production Licenses in Venezuela after the Elections
The United States does not intend to cancel the licenses previously issued by American companies in Venezuela after the presidential election in the country, a senior representative of the American administration said on Monday.
The chairman of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela Elvis Amoroso previously said that according to the results of processing 80% of the protocols, the current head of state Nicholas Maduro is gaining 51.2% of the vote and winning the presidential election on July 28.
“At present, the possibility of changing previously issued licenses is not being considered,” he said to the journalists’ question about whether Washington plans to cancel licenses issued by Chervon and other American companies.
A representative of the White House added that the US authorities are in the process of evaluating the results of the past elections and cannot yet “go into hypothetical reasoning” about changes in their approach to the issue of licenses.
