  • The United States Will Increase Shale Oil Production By 10 Thousand Barrels Per Day In April

An increase in extraction volumes is expected in three of the seven oil-bearing regions, according to a report from the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy.

Shale oil production in the United States in April 2024 compared to March will increase by 10 thousand barrels – from 9.759 million barrels per day (b/d) to 9.769 million b/d. This is stated in the report of the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy.

Actual shale oil production in March turned out to be slightly higher than the values expected by the department in the previous forecast, amounting to 9.759 million bpd versus an estimate of 9.716 million bpd.

Increased recovery is expected in three of the seven oil-bearing regions where tight oil production is concentrated, the report indicates. The greatest growth is predicted in the Permian Basin, where average daily shale oil production in April should increase by 8 thousand b/d, to 6.112 million b/d. In addition, a production increase of 4 thousand barrels is expected in the Bakken formation – up to 1.229 million b/d. In the Eagle Ford formation, the figure will increase by 2 thousand b/d, to 1.149 million b/d.

In the Niobrara formation, the department expects, production will decrease compared to March figures by 4 thousand b/d, to 712 thousand b/d.

In other regions, production is forecast to remain at March levels. In the Haynesville formation, the figure will remain at 33 thousand b/d, in the Anadarko formation – 383 thousand b/d, in the Appalachian formation – 150 thousand b/d.

Earlier, the US Department of Energy raised its forecast for daily oil production in the country in 2024 by 90 thousand barrels, to 13.19 million bpd. In 2025, the ministry expects oil production to reach 13.65 million bpd (plus 160 thousand bpd to the previous estimate).
