TMK Begins Construction of a New Environmental Facility at ChTPZ
The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) launched the construction of a new environmental facility at the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChTPZ), which is part of TMK, the AQA Balance complex for the treatment of industrial and storm water. The total area of the facility will be 3.8 thousand square meters.
Modern technical solutions of AQA Balance will make it possible to purify wastewater from oil products, suspended and organic substances, heavy metals and salts. After passing through all stages of the complex, purified water will be returned to production. The surplus, brought to the water quality standards for fishery facilities of the 1st category, will flow into Lake Shelyugino.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Sergey Shal, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vladimir Pavlov, Mayor of Chelyabinsk Natalya Kotova, TMK General Director Igor Korytko, ChTPZ Managing Director Valentin Tazetdinov and employees of the enterprise.
“The Chelyabinsk region is a water region, our task is to protect this valuable resource and make it as renewable as possible. ChTPZ, as one of the largest enterprises in the region, plays an important role in this work. The launch of the first stage of treatment facilities at the plant has already become a significant contribution to improving the environment. The project, the implementation of which begins today, will be another important milestone in our common work. I am sure that the water after purification will be of the highest quality,” said Sergei Shal.
“In its environmental activities, TMK pays special attention to caring for water resources. AQA Kristall is already operating at ChelPipe – a complex for treating wastewater that is formed as a result of the process of pickling pipes. Now we are moving on to the next stage – we are launching the construction of the AQA Balance complex, which will treat industrial and storm drains. As a result, the company will create a unified clean water recycling cycle system. Thanks to the new project, we are taking another step towards achieving a balance between industry and nature – this meaning is embedded in the name of the new complex. Its launch is scheduled for 2023,” said Igor Korytko.
The project for the construction of treatment facilities for industrial and storm water is being implemented as part of the ChTPZ Discharge Reduction Plan, signed in 2017 with the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources in the Chelyabinsk Region.
