  • TMK Demonstrated Best Environmental Practices at Its Enterprises to Rosprirodnadzor

The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) demonstrated to the management of the federal project (FP) “Clean Air” of the Federal Service for Environmental Management (Rosprirodnadzor) the application of advanced environmental practices at the company’s plants. Representatives of Rosprirodnadzor visited the Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ) and Sinarsky Pipe Plant (STZ), which are part of TMK, and assessed the environmental activities of the enterprises.

The delegation of the project office of FP “Clean Air” was headed by its head Alexander Vlasov, he was accompanied by the technical director of TMK Boris Pyankov. The guests appreciated the new technologies, the introduction of which allowed the factories to produce better products, increase production volumes, and at the same time contributed to the improvement of the environmental situation, including a significant reduction in the impact on water bodies, air, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to investment environmental projects, the enterprises on an ongoing basis take measures to ensure the efficient operation of treatment facilities and maintain environmental safety during production activities.

At STZ, the delegation visited the electric steel-smelting shop, pipe-rolling shop No. 1 and the facilities of the power shop. The guests were presented with environmental facilities of the modernized metallurgical complex, including modern gas cleaning equipment with an efficiency of up to 99%, water treatment and water purification complexes. During the visit, a high-tech line for the production of seamless pipes, equipped with a two-stage gas cleaning system with an efficiency of 98%, was demonstrated, as well as a block of treatment facilities of a continuous mill of pipe-rolling shop No. 1 with a unique final wastewater treatment system providing zero discharge.

Also, representatives of Rosprirodnadzor visited the block of treatment facilities with water treatment and a circulating water supply cycle, which is part of a new complex for heat treatment of pipes at STZ, launched in January 2020. The facilities of a bioengineering system for post-treatment of industrial storm water and domestic waste water were demonstrated.
