TMK: Joins the Ranks of Russian Leaders in Combating Corruption
The anti-corruption protection system of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) was highly rated in the Anti-Corruption Rating of Russian Business – 2021, compiled by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), and TMK’s Anti-Corruption Hotline was included in the top 15 of such practices in Russian companies according to Transparency International.
The RSPP rating is compiled on the basis of the criteria of the international standard ISO 37001: 2016 “Anti-corruption management systems – Requirements and recommendations for use”, as well as the Anti-Corruption Charter of Russian Business. In 2021, 53 companies took part in it, which became leaders in the Expert-400 list, another six participants applied on their own initiative.
As a result of the assessment, TMK was assigned class A1, which is awarded to companies “with the highest level of anti-corruption and the lowest level of corruption risks.” This indicates a minimal level of associated threat to investors, creditors, business partners and other interested parties.
Also, TMK’s anti-corruption activities were highly appreciated according to the results of the Hot Lines for Whistleblowers in the Commercial Sector Study conducted by the Transparency International – R Center for Anticorruption Research and Initiatives among the 100 largest Russian companies in terms of revenue. The rating participants were assessed according to seven criteria for organizing channels for reporting corruption: the presence of such a channel, a guarantee of no retaliation for reporting violations, an indication of the authority responsible for considering the appeal, the provision of an opportunity to report corruption to counterparties, company employees and other persons, confidential or anonymous hotline, as well as an indication of the procedure and terms of consideration of incoming messages.
Based on information from open access, the authors of the study awarded TMK 6.5 points out of 7 possible – according to this indicator, TMK’s hotline for combating corruption entered the top 15 of such practices. The study separately noted that TMK in the public domain indicated the subordination scheme of special anti-corruption bodies: all messages received by the Hotline go only to the Compliance Risks Regulation Committee, which is structurally subordinate directly to the General Director of the company.
