TMK’s Dmitry Pumpyansky Demonstrated Production at OMZ to the Governor of the Orenburg Region
Dmitry Pumpyansky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), demonstrated to the Governor of the Orenburg Region Denis Pasler the production sites of the Orsk Machine-Building Plant (OMZ), which is part of TMK. The visit was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the enterprise.
The delegation examined three production sites: punching of a drill joint at the Gidromekh unit, production of gas cylinders and casing pipes. At the end of the visit, Dmitry Pumpyansky and Denis Pasler left their autographs on a sample of seamless casing with a new high-tech TMK UP Momentum FL threaded connection.
“The plant has been one of the flagships of the Orenburg region industry for 80 years already. It is pleasant to see that the enterprise, despite its age, meets the challenges of the time and is actively developing as part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company. Almost 2,000 people work here, they consistently receive a salary above the regional average – and it, which is especially important, is regularly growing. Qualified specialists work here – TMK closely monitors personnel policy, training and incentives for employees. The plant is developing intraregional cooperation in cooperation with the Orenburg Press Machine Plant. And the most important thing is that the well-being of thousands of Orcs depends on its successful work, therefore it is important for us to see the well-coordinated work of the enterprise and its prospects, ”said Denis Pasler.
“For 80 years, OMZ has accumulated a huge production and technological potential. TMK has implemented a number of strategic investment projects at the enterprise. In particular, the production of drill locks was organized, which made it possible for Russian oil and gas workers to no longer depend on imports and to use high quality domestic drill pipes. The company continues to develop this area today, modernization of lines for the production of large diameter drill joints is underway. We are proud that over the years, as part of TMK, the plant has mastered many other types of products. For example, modern production of gas cylinders for liquefied and compressed gas, which fully meet the requirements of Russian car manufacturers and manufacturers of urban public transport. Today OMZ also manufactures high-tight premium threaded connections for casing pipes that are widely demanded in the oil and gas industry. I want to pay tribute to the plant workers who are in constant search of new directions and successfully implement their ideas for the further development and modernization of the enterprise, ”noted Dmitry Pumpyansky.
Orsk Machine-Building Plant (OMZ) was founded in 1941 on the basis of the K.E. Voroshilov No. 79. The first products of the enterprise were artillery shells for the front. In the post-war years, the plant mastered new defense products, which accounted for up to 90% of the production volume, and at the same time launched the production of peaceful products. In the 1990s, OMZ completely reoriented itself to the production of tool joints for drill pipes and gas cylinders.
The plant became part of TMK in 2007. The company carried out a large-scale modernization of production at OMZ: a shop for the production of casing pipes with a capacity of 24 thousand tons per year was put into operation, the production of gas cylinders from a pipe billet was reconstructed, the production of drill joints was reconstructed – new numerical control (numerical control) and modern machines were installed. stamping complex.
Today the enterprise is one of the leading manufacturers of tool joints for drill pipes used in Russia and abroad, as well as components for oilfield equipment, casing pipes and couplings with premium threaded connections, gas cylinders for various purposes. By the end of 2021, the company plans to increase production indicators compared to 2020: to increase the shipment of casing pipes by 5%, gas cylinders – by 64% to 35 thousand pieces.
