TNG-Group Mastered Magnetic Susceptibility Logging in Ore Wells in Yakutia
Specialists of the TNG-Izhgeofizservice company successfully carried out a complex of geophysical surveys of ore wells in Yakutia, for the first time performing well surveys with such interlayers. The Devon news agency learned about this from the materials of the oilfield services division of TNG-Group (Bugulma).
The geophysicists were faced with the task of identifying areas with increased magnetic susceptibility in sections and clarifying the geological (lithological, stratigraphic) section of the wells. That is, to create an information basis for the construction of geological and geophysical sections and models of deposits.
The geophysicists of TNG-LenGIS (Leninogorsk) helped the people of Izhevsk in this. They performed work on recording gyroscopic inclinometry with the GYROTRACER device. Geophysical surveys in two wells with ore deposits began in March, and according to the plan, they were to be completed on November 30th. The work was started by the specialists of party No. 130 under the leadership of Sergey DEVYATOV. By September 10, Izhevsk geophysicists completed the required amount of work and managed to work on the third well by the end of November.
In the first quarter of 2023, work is also planned on the fourth well. Thus, geophysicists gained additional experience in magnetic susceptibility logging and increased the competitiveness of the enterprise. Established partnerships with a new customer, the report says.
The method of magnetic susceptibility logging during well logging and work in wells at TNG-Izhgeofizservice was used not for the first time. They performed a complex of geophysical studies using this method for the first time at the beginning of 2022 in the Irkutsk region. The successful implementation of the project at well No. 2 of the Umotkinsky oil and gas area in the Katangsky region made it possible to continue work in this direction.
In June 2022, IA Devon reported that TNG-Izhgeofizservice had mastered the full package of geophysical surveys. The arsenal of methods was replenished with magnetic susceptibility logging. KMV is designed to study the magnetic susceptibility of rocks and ores in boreholes. It is based on measuring the characteristics of the secondary field that occurs under the influence of the magnetization of the rocks surrounding the well.
Oilfield service company TNG-Group (part of TagraS-Holding) has worked with non-standard wells before. Thus, in March 2022, the company supported the drilling of the first horizontal well in Russia in coal seams in Kuzbass. This is a joint project of the administration of the Kemerovo region and PJSC Gazprom for the extraction of methane from coal seams.
