  • TNK-BP To Save $30m In 2012 By Implementing a Lean Production Program

TNK-BP reports that its pilot program of lean production based on the principles of Toyota Production System (TPS), has reaped an economic benefit of $12.8 mln based on the results of the past 9 months.

The most important factor in TNK-BP sustainable development is its continuous improvements in efficiency. The essence of the lean production program launched by the company in early 2012 is to develop a culture of initiative among employees targeted at constant operational excellence at all stages of business processes.

Thus far the program is in place at 6 TNK-BP subsidiaries: OJSC Samotlorneftegaz, OJSC Varyoganneftegaz, OJSC TNK-Nizhnevartovsk, OJSC TNK-Nyagan, OJSC Orenburgneft and LLC Buguruslanneft. The program’s anticipated economic benefit by the end of the year could amount to $30 mln.

“The ideas of employees prompted these entities to significantly optimize the costs of motor transport, power and procurement of materials. We anticipate that the projects’ further rollout could yield over $550 mln in savings by 2020,” said Evgeny Mozhaev, Director of Organizational Development, TNK-BP.
