  • TotalEnergies to Split Production at Site in Brazil

France’s TotalEnergies has signed a production sharing agreement for its Agua Marinha block with other operators, the company said in a press release.

“TotalEnergies and its partners Petrobras, QatarEnergy and Petronas Petróleo Brasil Ltda (PPBL) signed a production sharing agreement for the Agua Marinha block on May 31, 2023,” the release reads.

TotalEnergies will participate with a 30% stake, along with the operator Petrobras (30%), QatarEnergy (20%) and PPBL (20%).

In December last year, the company announced that, together with partners, it would conduct geological exploration in a designated area won in a public auction under the production sharing regime conducted by the National Petroleum Agency of Brazil (ANP).

Agua Marinha, with an area of 1,300 square kilometers, is located in the Campos pre-salt basin, which in turn extends from the outskirts of Vitoria (Espirito Santo state) to Arraial do Cabo, off the northern coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, and covers an area of about 100,000 square kilometers.

The French TotalEnergies (former Total) is one of the largest energy companies in the world, the second largest supplier of LNG to the world market. The company employs about 100,000 people in more than 130 countries.
