  • Turkey Broke the Daily Record for Oil and Gas Production in August

Turkey is increasing its hydrocarbon production in order to get away from import dependence on oil and gas.

Turkey has reached new highs in daily oil and gas production: on August 17, oil production reached 107.6 barrels per day, and gas production on August 15 7.61 million cubic meters.

The republic is trying to get away from dependence on purchases of gas and oil from other countries. Ankara is actively conducting geological exploration on its lands, as well as in the Black Sea and in The Eastern Mediterranean. It has recently become known that in the southeast of the country, in the province of Sirnak, industrial oil production has begun in the amount of 40 thousand b/d, with a potential of 100 thousand b/d.

As for gas, since 2023, Turkish Botas has been developing the large Black Sea Sakarya field, production there is now planned in the amount of 10 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Nevertheless, the Turkish authorities are still interested in a gas hub on their territory. The day before, the head of the country‘s energy ministry said that work with the Russian Federation on this issue continues, and Turkey is even ready to half share participation in the project with the Russian Federation.
