  • Turkey Refused the Energy Giant to Develop a Field in the Black Sea

Turkey has denied the world energy giant the joint development and exploitation of gas in the Black Sea, the Sabah newspaper reported, citing sources.

However, the name of the company is not given.

Turkey in 2020 discovered a large gas field in the Black Sea, the volume of which was estimated at 540 billion cubic meters. Then President Tayyip Erdogan called the field the largest in the country. He also reported that a gas field with reserves of 58 billion cubic meters was discovered in the Black Sea, the estimate of the reserves was increased to 652 billion, and the total gas reserves in the Black Sea reached 710 billion cubic meters and are worth $ 1 trillion on international markets.

“If earlier many countries, such as the United States, Great Britain and Canada, offered to jointly explore and exploit gas in the Black Sea, this time the world giant of the energy industry came to Turkey with a big offer. The company’s proposal was rejected,” the newspaper writes. adding that in this way this company was given to understand that Turkey itself will produce and sell natural gas.

According to the newspaper, the Turkish side was offered half of the market value of the current opening of Turkey in cash.

“In exchange for this money, they offered to carry out all the exploration, production and sale of natural gas to the world market together with Turkey in the Black Sea in the subsequent period. However, these proposals were rejected,” the newspaper notes.
