  • Turkey’s Gas Production Volumes in the Black Sea Reached 5 Million Cubic Meters Per Day

According to the head of the Ministry of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar, by 2028 production volumes are planned to increase fivefold.

Turkey’s natural gas production volumes at the Sakarya field in the Black Sea have reached 5 million cubic meters per day. This was stated by the head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar.

“As of today, we produce 5 million cubic meters of gas per day at the Sakarya field, these are record figures. In the first quarter of next year, we plan to double gas production at the field to 10 million cubic meters per day,” the minister said on Habertürk TV channel.

According to him, by 2028, gas production volumes in the Black Sea are planned to increase fivefold.

Last April, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched supplies of Black Sea gas to the country from the Sakarya field. Once the project reaches full capacity, it is planned to produce up to 60 million cubic meters per day and cover 30% of Turkey’s needs for natural gas.

Turkey’s explored gas reserves in the Black Sea currently amount to about 710 billion cubic meters, which is enough to satisfy its domestic demand at the household level for 35 years, authorities previously reported.
