  • US Oil Production Remained at 13.1 Million Barrels Per Day

    Oil production in the United States for the week ending May 17 remained at the previous week’s level of 13.1 million barrels per day, according to the weekly review of the Energy Information Administration of the country’s Ministry of Energy.

    On average, over the past four weeks, oil production in the United States also amounted to 13.1 million barrels per day, the review said. The management reports exact data on production in a monthly report every two months. According to final data, in February, oil production in the United States amounted to 13.15 million barrels per day. According to preliminary data, in March the figure was also 13.15 million barrels per day, in April – 13.13 million.

    For all of last year, production averaged 12.93 million barrels per day. On May 7, the US Department of Energy lowered its forecast for average oil production in the country for the current year by 10 thousand barrels per day, to 13.2 million barrels per day, for 2025 – increased it by 10 thousand barrels per day, to 13.73 million.

    Commercial oil reserves in the United States (excluding the strategic reserve) for the week ending May 17 increased by 1.8 million barrels, or 0.4%, to 458.8 million barrels, according to the weekly review of the Energy Information Administration of the country’s Ministry of Energy.

    Analysts surveyed by the DailyFX portal, on the contrary, expected a decrease in reserves by 2.6 million barrels. The Ministry of Energy added that the US strategic oil reserve for the week ending May 17 increased by 0.993 million barrels to 368.804 million.
