Welltec: Intelligent Downhole Fishing Added to ERFT Portfolio
In the continued pursuit of optimization and the enhancement of intervention operations, Welltec has added an additional option to its precision downhole fishing solutions: Wellgrab Hi-Range Overshot and Spear, also known as HIROS – and the technology is already making an impact in the field.
HIROS comes with all the benefits of the highly regarded Wellgrab Electric Release Fishing Tool (ERFT), with the addition of several smart features that enable a more automated approach to downhole fishing, in combination with user-defined settings. Key features include a motor-driven grapple engagement force of up to 13,000 lbs (not to be confused with the 100,000 lbs of push/pull force available once latched), and this makes HIROS ideal for running through scale debris around the fish. Furthermore, an automated target measurement capability enables the recognition of the successful latching of the fish or initiates re-engagement if necessary.
