Wintershall Dea Completes Reserve Assessment For Adriana Gas Condensate Field
Wintershall Dea and its partners Petoro, Aker BP and PGNIG have completed well 6507/4-4 S in the Adriana gas condensate field (GCF) in the Norwegian Sea. The Wintershall Dea press service reported this on February 29, 2024.
The Adriana field was discovered in 2021 with exploration well 6507/4-2 S as part of a multi-layered project including the Dvalin North gas field, which is already being developed linked to the Heidrun offshore platform (OP) through the Dvalin field operated by Wintershall Dea.
Well 6507/4-4 S was drilled to confirm the volumes of Adriana.
- Before drilling 6507/4-4 S, the operator estimated the resources of the gas condensate field at 19-31 million boe;
- After drilling, the field volumes were revised upward to 28-43 million boe.
Exploration well 6507/4-4 S
- drilled 14 km north of the Dvalin field and 270 km north of Kristiansund using a Transocean Norge semi-submersible drilling rig (SSDR), which is currently is sent to the licensed subsoil area PL 475BS in the Norwegian Sea to carry out drilling operations as part of the 2nd phase of development of the Maria field;
- the sea depth in the subsoil area is 446 m;
- the main goal is to confirm volumes in the Lysing (Adriana) formation, study the reservoir laterally;
- was drilled to a depth of 3039 m (3067 m below sea level);
- discovered a gas reservoir with an interval of 21 m, 16 m was sandstone with good/very good reservoir quality;
- a gas-water contact was discovered at a depth of 2885 m below sea level;
- the well has not been tested, but extensive data collection and sampling has been carried out;
- the work was carried out in accordance with production license PL 211CS, which is operated by Wintershall Dea and its partners Petoro, Aker BP and PGNiG.
Lateral well 6507/4-4 A
- the primary objective of drilling 6507/4-4 A was to delineate the deepwater Sabina oil and gas discovery (6507/4-2 S) in the Lange Formation;
- however, drilling had to be interrupted due to technical problems;
- the companies will consider resuming work in 2024 or 2025.
The partners are currently considering possible options for developing the field.
In December 2023, Wintershall Dea completed the assessment of the Bergknapp project in Norway. It was reported that Wintershall Dea (project operator with a 40% participation interest) in collaboration with its partners DNO Norge (30%) and Equinor (30%) has successfully completed the drilling of the appraisal well 6406/3-12 S in the Bergknapp field in the Norwegian Sea, which confirmed the discoveries made in 2020. The team must evaluate options for developing the field.
