  • Wintershall Dea is New Partner to Soiltech, Supporting International Scale-up as Client and Investor

Wintershall Dea and Soiltech join forces with a goal to reduce waste volumes in the oil and gas industry worldwide. The partnership will focus on recycling the contents of waste streams, like waste residues from oil or drilling fluids, directly on the production sites. Wintershall Dea participates both as a client and as an investor through Wintershall Dea Technology Ventures GmbH, a subsidiary of Wintershall Dea AG.

Wintershall Dea recently installed a Soiltech slop treatment unit on their North Sea platform ‘Brage’ and is also using Soiltech’s technology in their Plugging & Abandonment campaign in the Netherlands.

Sasa Ignjatic, Wintershall Dea Senior Drilling Engineer comments: “The equipment has only the size of a standard 20ft container and thus was quickly installed offshore. It has been running smoothly ever since and reduces our cost significantly.” His colleague Rembrandt Brandjes adds: “The technology is a huge development step for us. By using Soiltech we reduce our waste volumes by 95%.”

The partnership is strengthened further by an investment of Wintershall Dea Technology Ventures which has recently acquired 14.8% of Soiltech’s shares. Andreas Berger, Managing Director of Wintershall Dea Technology Ventures is convinced: “The Soiltech technology offers proven value creation for our gas and oil operations. We see high growth potential for Soiltech and will support the company’s international growth strategy.”

Oluf Bergsvik, CEO of Soiltech, proudly welcomes Wintershall Dea: “Wintershall Dea brings a new dimension to our international operations and serves to prove our value creation.”
