  • WITSML Version 1.4.1 Candidate Release Available for Public Review

The WITSML Version 1.4.1 Candidate Release is now available for review and comment through Sunday, July 24th, 2011. More information about what is in version 1.4.1 and the feedback mechanism, is available on the Energistics website.

The review period is fairly short as this version has been reviewed several times internally and publicly. The WITSML Special Interest Group continues to work a few remaining open issues and we expect to finalize and publish v1.4.1 in September.

Feedback on the candidate release should be forwarded as instructed on the website.

Version 1.4.1 includes all existing data objects plus two new objects as well as resolutions to technical issues identified in version 1.4.

One of the new data objects in version 1.4.1 captures the technical details of a Well Fracturing Service. The stimJob data object provides a comprehensive summary of a well stimulation operation and can be scaled to allow the required amount of detail for service company or operator reporting. This object within WITSML provides the opportunity to expand the range of workflows available to assist wellbore construction operations.

In addition to the new stimJob object, the following items are also addressed in version 1.4.1:
    – trajectoryStation points to ISCWSA Error Model object.
    – Introduction of SHALL (server) and MUST (client) terminology to tighten spec.
    – Assign specific server error to each MUST condition.
    – Elimination of unit conversion from interface.
    – Server accepts client unit. Client accepts server unit.
    – Consistent unit required for growing object indices.
    – Explicit control over server or client data size.
    – Adds mnemonicList for reduced log overhead.
    – v1.4.0 changeLog and behaviour.
    – Many clarifications.
